Write to Freedom constantly receives positive feedback from its participants.  On this page we can read what two of the participants, leeman15 and Kano, have to say about the project.

I am a freedom writer.  This Write to Freedom project has and will
continue to be great.  It's just basically truths about your life
being expressed on paper from a prisoner's point of view.  This project has, in a way, helped me to bring out facts of how I live.  Caspar and Marcel have taught me also to express in detail anything I write, and Caspar's book shows me that he also understands/relates to some of the situations I am in at the moment.  I've learnt from myself that writing about my life could relate to someone else; that's why I write, to reach out to others in my situation.
The post-release support will be good for when I get out so I can stay in touch with Caspar, Marcel and a couple of the other lads with updates on how I'm doing and  what is doing with my life. So, yeah, it's a very good idea and I will stay in touch.
What do I want out of this? Well, I just want to get my situation out there to show people that prisoners can, and do, change; people make mistakes. I thank Marcel and Caspar for spending time with me and putting me on this project.  I'm grateful to them both.

Right to Freedom

This is a project I first heard about in my English class.  My teacher recommended me and said I should go and give it a try, it might do me some good.  At the start I couldn't really get into it; it was mainly a reason for me to get out of my shit lessons, but as the project progressed I started enjoying it.  Caspar and Marcel have been really helpful and supportive throughout the project.

The project has helped me a lot because I'm not the type of person to open up about my feelings.  I always keep everything bottled up.  My family and my girl are always telling me to open up but I can't, it's just the way I am; but this Write to Freedom project, with Marcel and Caspar helping and guiding me with different writing techniques and different ways of getting my thoughts down on paper, has really helped my mind be at ease, instead of letting all of my feelings get to me as I have always done in the past.  When I write my diary, on paper or on PCs in classes it really helps me deal with the day to day difficulties that prison brings.

My hope is that I'll carry on the Write to Freedom project when I've been released.  Also, I hope to mentor and share experiences with other lads that are interested and hopefully stop them from making the mistake that I did that led me to prison
